A solution sodium metasilicate can be used to bind various high temperature insulation such as ceramic fiber, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth or sand.
However its probably not compatible with Kanthal heating elements due to the sodium.

Surprisingly silica dissolves in boiling ethylene glycol, with triethanolamine. Perhaps the resultant solution could be used as a insulation binder
compatible Kanthal elements. I assume the solution would decompose on heating leaving silca.
