So you may have noticed the disappearance of one name and the appearance of another.
I used to be "TheAustralianScientist", now Volanschemia.
The reasoning:
Back when I joined, I was foolishly under the impression that I was, if not the only, one of extremely few amateur chemists in Australia hence
"TheAustralianScientist".
After spending a few months here I realized that I was very far from the truth.
I carefully picked out a few names and narrowed them down to one, finally settling on Volanschemia. It is Latin and roughly translates to "Flying
Chemist", representing my two favourite things to do, pilot aeroplanes and do chemistry.
I hope my new name is slightly less ignorant and self-promoting!aga - 18-12-2015 at 14:55
Nice realisation, and good thoughts.
Nobody really cares though, so may as well stay with the original name.j_sum1 - 18-12-2015 at 17:13
Well TAS, it is going to take a while to get used to spelling Volanschemia.
cut and paste for a while I am afraid.Volanschemia - 18-12-2015 at 20:18
Heh, whatever you need to do j_sum.j_sum1 - 18-12-2015 at 21:39
I just reread my post. I wasn't trying to be condescending or anything. Volanschemia: cool name. And always good to get the back story on names
chosen.Volanschemia - 18-12-2015 at 21:56
Oh no, I didn't read it as condescending, all good!
I'm still adjusting myself, it'll be bit weird seeing my new name beside my posts for a while .diddi - 19-12-2015 at 05:19

It is good to see that there are a few of us here.Texium - 19-12-2015 at 07:32
Yeah, weirdly, there seems to be a disproportionately large number of Australians here compared to people from other countries. Not that there's
anything wrong with that! I guess amateur chemistry is just more popular down there.
