I'm going to be doing an experiment either tomorrow or before the week is out, measuring burn rates for different solid rocket fuel mixtures and
ratios. The oxidizer I'll be using will be KNO3 and ordinary sugar for the fuel(sucrose). The end goal is to build some efficient home-made rockets,
but for now I'm just interested in getting some numbers.
So I was wondering if people had some suggestions for the different ratios I could try and also burn catalysts to add. For example, the standard test
I'll be doing will be using the standard mixture in 6:4 , 3:4, and 10:4 ratios to see which burns the fastest.
Some folks have told me you can use different additives to also alter the burn rate, but I couldn't get any solid info on it. Like the wikipedia page
says you can add aluminum and iron oxide, but im pretty sure that makes thermite when ignited..
So any suggestions, hints tips etc? Thanks in advance <3

You can add aluminum OR iron oxide, not both. I prefer Fe2O3 2% by weight with the 60/40 ratio.
