I would like to know about 2-D TLC , how it is done ? and the advantages.

You spot the mixture near one corner of a square plate and develop it with the first solvent. Then you take the plate adn dry it.
Next, you turn the plate round by 90degrees so that your spots from the first elution are along the bottom and run the plate with a different solvent.
The advantage is that you can use 2 different solvents; this means you can resolve things that don't separate with any one solvent.
The disadvantage is that you ony get one analysis on a plate (and, of course, it takes longer).

Take and open a book in practical organic chemistry and look it up in index section, advantage is that way you avoid making stupid posts and you get a
much more complete answer in much less time.

I just did that. It wasn't there so I tried another book. It wasn't there too. It was in the 3rd book, about half a page and a little diagram.
Perhaps I'm a bit more determined than "double bond" or maybe I have a better library.
