I worked with a guy who must have been suckered in by Petrik several years ago.
He had a vial of this fluffy black powder he was calling "graphene" and said that he got from a guy in Russia, who produced with from some aqueous
reaction, which generated piles of the stuff. He said he (the guy I knew) was working on commercializing it. Some months later he quit to pursue other
business interests, and I heard no more about it.
I had never heard about this at the time, but told him I didn't think the stuff in the vial was really graphene.
And I hadn't heard anything about this again until now.

morganism: I saw that video but it doesn't look like the same reaction, at least to me.
To me it looks like the liquid initiates a decomposition of the black substance but I have no idea what either might be. The reaction has a passing
similarity to ammonium dichromate decomposion but the product is obviously different. Another fact which is interesting besides the huge volume
produced is that the product seems moldable. In one of the clips it is molded into a ball shape which sticks together quite well, something impossible
if the product was carbon, as might be produced by decomposing sugar with sulfuric acid.

The disproportionation of graphene oxide can be quite energetic. All it takes is a heat source to trigger it. Different metal ions added to it can
affect the reaction.
