I am planning to construct one of these from wood. What do you think about this idea ? It is very versatile thing. If I coat wood heavily with paint and warnish it should be completely air tight.

Your comments, suggestions and ideas please !

There is a text out there called "How to Make - and Use a Small Chemical Laboratory" from 1926!
It has a hood design in it that may be of use to you, there is even a "chemical proof" paint in there you could make!

I have that book if anybody needs it uploaded - it's a 1.5mb Dejavu file - not a bad read
