Hello,
is there a way to synthesize NHN (nickel hydrazine nitrate) directly from hydrazine sulfate without first making hydrazine hydrate?
I ask because I have quite some hydrazine sulfate lying around and I don't want to buy hydrazine hydrate.
Best regards

Use barium or calcium hydroxide to 'take out' the sulphate!

But I wanted to go without forming hydrazine hydrate. When doing the classic hydroxide way, I think you won't get even close to 80%.
Also, the yield is very poor.

So what if you used barium or calcium nitrate to precipitate the insoluble sulfate and get hyrazine nitrate? This thread might be useful: http://www.sciencemadness.org/talk/viewthread.php?tid=874

And that would help me making NHN?

You really should have some understanding of the processes involved before attempting to produce this potent primary?
Read up on it, rather than persist with these beginner questions!

Don't understand me the wrong way, I have quite some experience with explosives and chemistry in general.
I just asked for a full synthesis with hydrazine nitrate.
