Oh no! Not homework problems, I hope! But this one is very *basic* (haha).

This reaction is called "Saponification"--it's what they use to make soaps. They react a fatty ester with Sodium Hydroxide, forming Glycerin and a long chain alcohol.

So do you see where I'm getting? Your products will be a Carboxylic acid and an Ester.

If you want a mechanism, this is a nucleophilic acyl substitution.

This thread should really be in "beginnings."
