Would it be better to order TCB from a supplier or to just chlorinate benzene myself?
Basically im looking for the more cost-effective method.gsd - 8-5-2006 at 09:21

Right, 1,3,5.
Sorry bout that.

Chlorination of Benzene will result in cocktail of all sorts of CB compounds/isomers.
To the best of my knowledge 1,3,5 TCB is made by chlorinating Aniline - which gets symmetrically substituted to 2,4,6 Trichloroaniline and then
knocking off the -NH2 by diazo, yielding symmetrical 1,3,5 TCB.

Thanks.
Now just need to get some nitrobenzene.
I'd really rather not order anything from china right now

That's correct, see JACS18 667 (1896) and Rec Trav Chim56 1177 (1937) for more details
Edit: Instead of JACS it should be Am Chem J18 667 (1896)
