Wha?! I checked around the forums, and I still couldn't find the thread.

I got the same error, because I was in the middle of replying to it. It was merged into an older thread on basically the same topic.

The topic is now titled "New Energetic Materials - Current Research"

Also, all the information about making glyoxal has been split off into it's own thread as well.

Moved without notice of any kind. I guess the moderators prefer to secretly move things around and cause confusion for fun.

Top of the second page Chemleo explains the merger and split. Maybe you missed it, I noticed for a while the second page did not show up until you actually viewed the thread.

Oh yeah, it's our sacred duty to make your life hell.

Confusion is created by having several topics discussing the same matter.
What do you want us to do? U2U everybody when a thread is being moved/merged/whatever? Get a grip.

Well, maybe the board could be set up to notify at least the subscribed users, whenever a thread is displaced? It would have helped Quince in this case since he had email notification turned on.

But on the other hand, is it worth doing so? Maybe not. How often will it really affect anyone?

chemoleo - 6-9-2005 at 05:38

MMmmmh I thought there'd be someone who wouldnt get it. Sorry to cause the trouble to the both of you (first time this happened what Chris described), but indeed making threads of a broad nature are likely to get confusing to anyone searching this later, i.e. in a years time, particularly when several compounds are discussed in detail, and with a non-descript title such as 'where is this going' (which is a wide-spread problem here anyway, you may have noticed that I often change them to something more meaningful), and where there are already threads of such a broad nature.

Anyway, with major rearrangements I shall notify the thread creator in the future, and hope to the gods of chemistry that noone is currently replying :)

Would it be difficult to modify the board code to change the automatic notification emails to point to the moved threads? Just a suggestion, though I know you guys are busy enough.

I initially thought that when the email pointed to a non-existing thread that someone had simply deleted it, which is why I posted here to express my distress.
