Melting and Boiling points

Methoxy - 19-2-2005 at 08:38

Hey all

I need a good website that has the melting and boiling points of organic compounds (6 carbons in particular i.e. benzene, hecanamine, hexanal, hexanamide etc.)

Any help would be appreciated.

NIST should be a good one.

Thanks for the site. :)

Got all my info except the melting point for 1-methoxy hexane. Can't find it anywhere.

merck doesnt have it listed as an exact match and chemdraw estimates the mp at 190K but thats the same program that estimates water bp @ 291K.... hmmm

Sorry i couldnt help but you could always just make it and find out....

That's because the Joback fragmentation method used by ChemDraw to estimate MP does not take into account deviant molecules such as water. This article gives some info on the methods used to predict physical properties based on structure.

Besides, water has always been, among the hydrogen chalcogenides, strange. ;)
Lucky for us who depend on it, it is.
