Today I tested a (really small) furnace made for propane use with a homemade natural gas burner with forced air to test how hot it could get.
Conclusion, as hot as with propane. 1500 degrees within 10 minutes starting from a cold furnace.
Gas consumption was 0.2l / seconds which equals about 5kW power.

Yesterday I tested melting 100g of copper which melted within 10 minutes in a small furcane made of YTONG bricks (no video yet).
My conclusion is that I can use just our home natural gas connection for melting metals.

fantastic! i have seen some diagrams of how to make the gas nozzles and air attachments but everytime i get close to make one i chicken out. something
about gas that intimidates me and i get a sense that it is way over my capability.you love metals dont you?
