Is the greenish thing CuCl2? This is the anode used in the electrolysis of a concentrated NaCl solution. The wire is made of Cu

The specks on the electrode near the wire connection?
What did you do exactly? then we may be able to help you better.

I made the electrolysis of a concentrated NaCl solution. Cl was given off. The wire is of copper. I'm asking about the greenish part on the wire

More likely copper hydroxide, unless you separated the anode and cathode with some type of membrane. Copper ions are produced at the anode, but these
react with NaOH produced at the cathode unless the electrodes are separated by something that does not allow the two to mix. I couldn't really
tell from the picture though.

Was the copper part submerged in the water? It could CuCl2 if you used a slt bridge.

No I didn't use a salt bridge and yes it was submerged in the water

ITs Copper hydroxide

thanks...I've been thinking about that too after hodges' post
