New Messages Since Last Visit

I was thinking that it would be a good idea to add a feature so that it is possible to view all of the posts since the last time you visited on one page.
I got the idea from another forum that I go on which has that feature. I find it very convenient to look at that and automatically know what I've missed.

I agree that would be very helpful. Are you thinking something similar to email alerts?

Also, it would be good, if we could be alerted if someone edits their post. That way if someone edits their post, we wouldn't think "Oh, I already read that post." And then refrain from re-reading it. But if we could see something like "[Edited since last read".]

No, not email alerts, just a page on the forum that you go to that displays all of the topics that have been posted in since the last time you logged on, although email alerts would be a good option to have also.

Today's Posts is basically the same thing (if you can remember when you last logged in).

Sort of… I don't know. I still think that it would be nice to have this feature.

i recall talking to woelen about this, but the site must be changed to do this
by email would just be too far away

Yes, it would be hard to implement unless there is a plugin for this outdated forum software

thesmug - 14-5-2014 at 10:21

There are already email alerts aren't there?

MrHomeScientist - 14-5-2014 at 12:55

For responses to subscribed threads, yes, which is a bit different than what the OP suggested. That email feature is completely broken for me anyway - I'll go 6 months receiving zero subscribed thread emails, then all of a sudden I'll get 10 within 5 minutes of each other, then all emails stop for another 6 months or so. Really weird.
