Hi all,
Say I have a compound which has a single labile hydrogen and I want to substitute that hydrogen for deuterium. Say I have my compound inside sealed
dialysis tubing and that tubing is set inside a solution of D2O. How can I calculate what fraction of my compound will be deuterated at
equilibrium?
The mL quantity of compound and D2O are known. And KH/KD (kinetic isotope effect) is known. My first guess is that
VD=VH * KD/KH.
Am I on the right track?
