Is your cap lock button glued down or something? All caps gives the impression that you are YELLING.

diamond - 16-8-2013 at 13:20

PLEASE I DONT STILL UNDERSTAND PRODUCTION OF EPICHLOROHYDRIN PLEASE CAN YOU EXPLAIN BETTER? OR IS THERE ANY BETTER PRODUCTION METHOD?

sonogashira - 16-8-2013 at 13:31

If you are not able to make it you should buy it. It is a cheap bulk chemical.

diamond - 16-8-2013 at 13:33

It is not sold in my area

Take an O-Chem class... What is it that you don't understand? What part of the synthesis is problematic? What are your obstacles? Elaborate a bit instead of YELLING your vague inquiries at the whole forum...

diamond - 16-8-2013 at 13:47

Mailinmypocket , YOU HAVE NEVER CONTRIBUTED ANYTHING + TO THIS TOPIC SO DONT .................................

Polverone - 16-8-2013 at 13:49

Diamond, please provide more information as Mailinmypocket has requested and stop capitalizing whole words.

diamond - 16-8-2013 at 13:59

Am sorry if I over reacted , all I wanted was another method that will involve mixing of chemical without distillation

Mailinmypocket - 16-8-2013 at 14:39

So is the problem that you do not have a distillation apparatus? Sadly just mixing things together in a "one-pot" approach will not work in this case.

kch - 16-8-2013 at 17:51

Slightly off-topic, but on Wikipedia epichlorohydrin is said to be prepared with HOCl and NaOH industrially. Why not MCPBA?

Mercedesbenzene - 16-8-2013 at 18:06

Im going to say cost. Bleach and lye are much cheaper than mCPBA

HOW Epichlorohydrin is manufactured from Bleach and lye

You would need allyl chloride, which I doubt you have

diamond - 16-8-2013 at 19:17

PLEASE IS IT POSSIBLE I HAVE hypochlorite AND LYE ? I HAVE BOTH

<img src="../scipics/_warn.png" /> <strong>diamond</strong>, one more capslock post and I'll delete this entire topic. <img src="../scipics/_warn.png" />
You've been asked nicely several times. The sheer ignorance and lack of effort displayed in your posts is offense enough, but the capslock...

Sorry for that, I am not a chemist I am an Engineer trying to work with chemical

Mailinmypocket - 17-8-2013 at 06:47

Lord help us

diamond - 17-8-2013 at 07:03

Amen!!!

bfesser - 17-8-2013 at 07:08

diamond, the Org. Syn. procedures that sonogashira provided in the first reply are probably your best bet. I doubt you'll find any cheaper or simpler route.

There is no such thing as "hypochloride" (I assume you meant hypochlorite), and we prefer to call it sodium hydroxide (NaOH), rather than the colloquial and somewhat ambiguous term, lye. Regardless, you can't manufacture <em>any</em> organic compound with only NaOH and NaOCl&mdash;that would be alchemy, as there's no carbon! By the way, what do you need <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epichlorohydrin" target="_blank">epichlorohydrin (ECH)</a> <img src="../scipics/_wiki.png" /> for, anyway? Perhaps we could suggest an available alternative, if you supply more information. ECH is pretty nasty stuff (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFPA_704" target="_blank">NFPA 704</a> <img src="../scipics/_wiki.png" /> of 3,3,2), and not something that a non-experienced chemist should attempt to prepare or handle.

Mailinmypocket, comments like that aren't helpful.

kch, it's clear what you meant, but please define acronyms and abbreviations before using them. Non-chemists have a hell of a time trying to understand the conversation, otherwise.

Nobody can help you unless we know what building blocks you have access to. For instance, do you have allyl chloride?

Sciencemadness guidelines #1 and I quote: "On the other extreme, being a professional scientist and a paid researcher does not mean that you can not have honest amateur interests and participate in the discussions. However, in such case avoid abusing SM for solving problems related to your job, problems which you are paid to resolve. Take notice that discussions motivated by commercial interest and greed have no place on an forum for amateurs."

Thanks please how do I convert Allyl chloride to Epichlorohydrin

kch - 17-8-2013 at 09:59

Diamond, you could do that using either hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and sodium hydroxide or you could use mCPBA (meta-chloroperbenzoic acid)

See here, it may be helpful, especially to an engineer.

diamond - 17-8-2013 at 11:35

off topic, please how do i prepare 3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride?

bfesser - 17-8-2013 at 15:04

<strong>diamond</strong>, if you're looking to prepare this chemical on an industrial scale, you're barking up the wrong tree. You're better off just hiring someone who has a clue in hell what they're doing, or buy it from a commercial/industrial supplier. I'm closing this thread, as you're repeatedly asking for spoon feeding. You've shown no sign of trying to find this information on your own.
