I normally don't make a thread for bannings but he was here almost 5 years. Unfortunately, the last useful post he made was on the 10th of January.
Since then he's made more than a dozen useless and insulting posts, most of which ended up in Detritus and the rest of which should have. He was most
active in Whimsy. This is too poor a signal-to-noise ratio for me to continue handling it piecemeal.hissingnoise - 18-2-2013 at 04:43
A while off the board might make him a bit more circumspect?Hexavalent - 1-3-2013 at 15:36
Is it possible to block an entire IP address? This would help avoid members re-registering once they're banned.elementcollector1 - 1-3-2013 at 15:47
I don't think so, some have circumvented IP addresses before if I'm not mistaken.Bot0nist - 1-3-2013 at 16:22
proxy...
Doesnt really matter though. It's not so much the person, or the IP needing a ban, but rather abrasive peronalities and behavior outside of what is
tolerated on the forum.
If a person comes back from a ban, whether with the same moniker, a new incarnation, or even a new or masked IP and their behavior and postings have
changed for the better then I so no reason why the would not be welcomed back, by most at least.
And, conversely, if a member was banned for bad behavior and they return with a new handle and IP, but there troublesome ways continue, then they will
probably weed themselves out, much in the same way their first alias was banned.
For example, take dawson /aka holmes /aka freedompyro, etc. He was a horrible troll and much worse, He caused many headaches for a lot of people,
inculding me on SciMad. He kept getting banned and kept returning as a new troll. He even was using a proxy between every post at the end, IIRC. His
hostile and arrogant demeanor, narrow almost obsessive intrest in NPEDs, and unique spelling and writing quirks kept getting him banned and linked to
past accounts. I guess he finally got bored. good riddance.Pyro - 2-3-2013 at 03:15
Not to mention him calling everyone a Nazi and saying they were responsible for the holocaust if they oppose him
I think we need him back eventually, He is a good laugh sometimes and I am burning with curiosity as to why he asked me if I was gay.hissingnoise - 2-3-2013 at 04:01

Indeed, every village its idiot, and crown its jester?
I'd expect a name-change, though, but by his posts shall we know him . . .

Oh yeah, I remember that.
He'll probably just ignore any attempts at reason, spewing out his political crap until someone silences whatever thread he's hijacked this time.Nickbb - 3-3-2013 at 18:08
Maybe Diacetl can be the new village idiot for a while posting stupid questions obviously related to methelementcollector1 - 3-3-2013 at 18:16

I highly disagree with your "mood" right now...
Anyway, Diacetl will be good for teaching any new members what *not* to do at ScienceMadness. Lead by example, after all.
