I've been searching for ways to produce N,N-diethylaniline using over-the-counter reagents for quite some time. There are ways of doing it using high
pressure, but I don't have the kind of machinery to go that route.
Any suggestions?

Read Noyes. OTC aniline will have to start further back I guess.
Put in a small flask 30 g of aniline and 45 g of ethyl bromide, and heat with a reversed condenser for one or two hours, or until the mass solidifies.
Cool, add 60 ml of a solution containing 20 g sodium hydroxide, with cooling, separate the ethyl aniline, add to it 45 g of ethyl bromide, and heat
with reversed condenser as before, till the mass solidifies. Dissolve in water, boil to expel any ethyl bromide which remains, cool, add 60 ml of
NaOH, and separate the diethyl aniline. Dry with powdered potassium hydroxide, and distil, collecting as much as possible of the portion boilng at
212-215°.
