I know this is a completely ridiculous thought, but would it be possible to make SO2 and Cu from CuSO4 and sulfur? Or making SO2 by mixing
H2SO4 and sulfur? I just want to know if it is possible, even if very high temperatures are needed (I do not want to do it, it's
just theory).

Heating copper sulfate alone will get you sulfur dioxide, oxygen, and copper oxide. You won't get copper by heating it with sulfur, though there is a
chance that copper sulfide will be formed.
There was a thread here about making sulfur dioxide from sulfur and sulfuric acid. It worked for some people, but not others, and it required very
high temperatures. It was hypothesized that impurities in the acid/sulfur catalyzed the reaction, so that individuals with pure acid and pure sulfur
did not observe any reaction.
