When doing electrolosis on a solution of water and a salt with Cl eg KCl, why does the anode break down when Chlorine contacts it, I am sure that it
doesn't form HCl otherwise the solution would become highly acidic. So how does the Cl break down the steel.
Also can KClO3 be made using steel/copper electrodes, if i replace them after 12 hours or when needed?
