quaternary ammonium compounds of HMTD?

It strikes me that an electron-donating group attached to one of the nitrogen atoms would help stabilize the peroxide bonds. Are there methods of introducing such groups that do not degrade the initiatory ability of HMTD?

No, stabilizing it would mean it is not as detonate able. This would also screw up the OB.

If you were to try and use a Quat N, the peroxide could not form completely. It's also possible the charge and associated anion would make it dangerously unstable.
