I synthesized phthalic acid from sodium phthalate today, it percipitated into light orante granuals. I seperated them by filtration followed by
solvation in acetone, I boiled off the acetone then continued to heat in a crude reflux. Crystals of clear-white phthalic anhydride formed on the
sides of my beaker, but at their base was a yellow solid (that looked just like the impure phthalic acid). I didn't think much of it, for I could
just condense the crystals again for purity. I did so, but the crystals the condensed were a light yellow oragne. I'm assuming they're of reasonable
purity (small % partaily oxidized) and am going to use them as is, unless theirs a general consensus the think otherwise
