Forgive me if this question has already been belaboured in previous threads , but i am still adjusting to the search engine here at
Sciencemadness. Can diethyl-ether for grignard and organometallic syntheses be adequately dried via 4 A molecular sieves, or do they require
further processing with sodium wire or some other chemical reaction. I have consulted Vogel (3rd ed.) on the drying of ethers, but apparrently
molecular sieves were either unknown or not in vogue at the time of publication. Any suggestion would be appreciated. |
