how to re ink a thermometer

Would appreciate info on how to re ink a thermometer. I've been using a lead pencil to do it but it's not real dark and it comes off easily.

Have you considered buying a glass pen? They are pens with ink that adhere to glass.

I've used a Sharpie. Most thermometers have the markings etched slightly into the glass. Cover the entire scale area with copious amounts of ink, let it dry, then wipe off with a tissue that has been very slightly dampened with e.g. isoproanol/water
