i used old glowsticks to make Na/K phalate water solution, solution a bit yellow (right) so added some 'activated carbons' to about half solution
(left) and wait more than 1 day and filter, solution become very orange.
after many months the right solution almost dry, but left solution still have much water.
is these activated carbons fake and give much impurity??

I'm not real familiar with trying to recover materials from light sticks, but "activated" carbon or charcoal comes in about 1000 different grades and
types. Some are better for water, some better for organics, some are super active, some are weakly active. But they are not miracle workers, they
work best as removing trace impurities from nearly pure materials (like dark colors from brown sugar) or removing trace polar impuries in non-polar
compounds.
By the way, I happen to have an open 50 pound bag of course activated water, likely for water purification, and am happy to give some away to anyone
who wants to pay shipping, likely most practical if you are already ordering something. Its a messy material.
