Can someone explain how this "Distilling Adapter" works?

Can someone explain how this "Distilling Adapter" is meant to work? It seems pretty different than any type of distillation adaptors I'm familiar with.



If I had to take a guess, I would say maybe it works like this:

Basically when the stopcock is open, then the condenser will deliver the distillate to the receiving flask. If its closed, then it will just overflow back into the distillation flask (ie:just refluxing). But again, this is just an assumption because idk how else it would work.

If I'm wrong, I'd like to know.

Depending on what you're trying to accomplish, you can let it reflux and then draw off through the stopcock. I wish I had something like this because it would make my setup a bit more compact. But what I just described is only a guess, really.
