More than 10 years ago I prepared some CS2 vapor when I heated powdered charcoal and sulfur in a borosilicate test tube to red heat.
In the capturing glass I saw bubbling and it smelled like what is described as a smell of CS2.
I want to do this again : heating the mixture to red hot (600-800oC hotter is not possible as the borosilicate glass then melts like plastic) and
capturing it under water.
Does somebody have better ideas ?
I work in a well ventilated funehood because of the toxicity of CS2.
