Hello!
ive recently come across that i need a Cl2 gas generator to make some HCL
but the issue is....I dont have HCL............
Is there anyway that i would make Cl2 from bleach...?
Electrolysis is not viable i dont have space neather do i have a air pump to actually pump the gas I'm just working with pressure hare.

XCl + HY = HCl + XY
H2SO4, vinegar, nitric. Really just pick your poison.
Do you have any specific requirements like anhydrous or controlled atmosphere.

In a small space HCl and/or Cl2 gas will SEVERELY corrode metals,
especially iron, steel, copper, and anything that you value....
Neither gas is healthy,
but if you work at test tube scale,
coughing or watery eyes will warn you of extreme danger.
If you are considering a larger scale then I suggest that you ask for further advice.
Take care, and always wear eye protection when doing ANY chemistry.
PS HCl is often sold as : muriatic acid, brick cleaner, concrete cleaner, pool acid/pH-down.
Also, HCl is notoriously difficult to seal in a bottle,
- even a tiny leak will slowly release destruction.

I myself made lots of Cl2 by adding solid pH-minus (NaHSO4.H2O) to 12% bleach. When this is done, you get copious amounts of Cl2, from two
swimmingpool chemicals, which are easy to obtain in most countries.

I just love the drawings.
