I'm looking at anti-Stokes phosphorescence and anti-Stokes fluorescence. I asked some old pchem professors if phosphorescence in the upconversion
direction was known in the 1970s.
1 of them did a keyword search in 2 databases, for phosphorescence and upconversion. That's searching articles that mention both words, and the
earliest articles date back to 2000. Most of the articles are about rare-earths fused into some molecule.
But I can't seem to find who was the 1st to discover upconversion-phosphorescence or upconversion-fluorescence. Whoever was the 1st to discover it
must not be that famous for it...
If upconversion-phosphorescence was discovered in the 2000s, do you guys think upconversion-fluorescence was discovered in the 1990s?
