LiH packed in plastic bottles under argon and additionally these bottles are packed in sealed vacuum bags.Jenks - 20-8-2021 at 07:30
I noticed this and thought it was very interesting, as hydrides have been hard to come by. But when I read up on it, it didn't seem to have the
widespread application of sodium hydride. Can anyone comment on the utility of lithium hydride relative to sodium hydride?njl - 20-8-2021 at 08:34
They will more or less participate in the same reactions as bases, but I think Li being a smaller atom than Na makes it more electrophilic. Also note
that LiH is used as a precursor to other hydrides in addition to its use as a reagent.Chemcraft - 20-8-2021 at 08:36

LiAlH4 can be made from lithium hydride. This reaction will also require anhydrous AlCl3 or AlBr3 as well as diethyl ether as a solvent for the
hydride.

25$ for 350g AlBr3 (sealed glass ampoule)
Make sure to correct the main title of auction as it says 450g instead .Jenks - 20-8-2021 at 11:10
I've been checking the aluminum bromide every few days for months, and it just came in! I think before it was restocked there was only one choice of
450 grams for something like $60.Chemcraft - 20-8-2021 at 11:33
