Hi.
I am planning synthesis of several metal chlorates/bromates. For this purpose I want to make chloric and bromic acid around 30% concentration. Has
anyone experience with storage of these acids? Obviously they must be stored in dark bottles in a dark place. Is it possible to safely store them for
a few months? Or should I make them fresh from barium chlorate/bromate and sulfuric acid before each synthesis?

Aren't they unstable and possibly explosive?

They can be kept around at appr. 25% concentration for quite some time, but your bottle and liquid must be absolutely clean. Any reducible material
will cause contamination and production of ClO2+Cl2 resp. Br2. Solutions at lower concentrations are quite stable.
