Hi everyone, I'm trying to sell my chemicals and some glassware. Ebay wouldn't even let me list the first chemical I tried (trimethylamine) and gave
me a warning that I can't sell trimethylamine, LOL. I'd rather try here.
I know people are wary of "newbies" listing chemicals for sale, but I'm a chemist myself and have been snooping through the forums on and off for
years, especially during my undergraduate years when I found these forums exceptionally useful, and still are. I made this account a while back and
never bothered using it since you can view forums without logging in. Anyway, enough about myself, here's about 1/4th of my chemicals. They're all
from Fisher and Sigma Aldrich. Liquids were measured on my scale and converted using density to make it faster and easier for me to go through my
inventory as many of my chemicals were transferred to identical reagent glass bottles. I'll list the other 40-50 chemicals I have when I find the time
and I'll update this list. I have some other pretty cool chemicals but didn't have enough time today to go through everything. Some of my smaller
quantity chemicals are still in the original bottle though.
I'm gonna use PayPal to make it easy. One more thing I'd like to add, I'd really prefer to keep things within the United States please. I don't want
to deal with worrying about customs or anything like that. Please, no shipping to Alaska or Hawaii, I'm sorry if you're interested and live there but
I'm going to keep things simple for my own sake, and possibly yours. I’ll probably used a fixed price of $5 for shipping the chemicals unless it’s
a huge order. I’ll ship the glassware anywhere though.
Send me a message if you're interested in anything. Also, feel free to send me a message for just general questions, comments, concerns, etc.
Alternatively, you can send me an email to: chemglass.sciencemadness@gmail.com

Hi ChemGlass, welcome to the forum, and thank you for making your chemicals available here. I will note, however, that while your prices appear to
reflect the going rate from the major chemical suppliers, you may find that you’ll have a rather difficult time with getting full price for many of
these here. Many of these are available from amateur-friendly suppliers at much lower prices (even if there may be one less “9” in the guaranteed
percent purity) or easily made from OTC chemicals. I mean no offense. Just trying to be helpful, as you will likely have a more favorable outcome if
you lower your prices considerably.ChemGlass - 16-6-2021 at 02:21
Hey Texium, thank you for the honest feedback. I was thinking the same thing since posting this. I’m going to adjust the prices accordingly to make
them more affordable.
Prices will be adjusted moments after I post this reply.
Edit: I have reduced all prices by 50%!
To anyone who sees a price elsewhere that’s better or just wants to negotiate for any reason on something, feel free to comment or message me! I’m
a really reasonable person. I remember how hard it used to be to get cool chemicals and I want others to have that opportunity.
I may potentially list some of my old glassware and equipment, but I’m gonna have to go through storage. I probably have a few thousand pieces of
glassware and maybe I’ll list the overpriced, hard to get pieces of glassware first. I’ve got some cool stuff packed away in god knows how much
vermiculite lol.

Does anyone know of a better way to update inventories without me having to repost this? I don't think I can edit my posts after a day passes from
posting a comment.

It would be cool if the site was updated to have each member have a limited online shop so inventory and transactions would be managed in an easy
standard way. Maybe size of inventory would be tied to the number of stars or something?ChemGlass - 18-6-2021 at 07:56
That would be awesome to have. I've always been a spectator on this site but just now learning the ins and outs of posting and stuff like that. I'm
about to add a few other chemicals.
I also wish I was able to edit the title of my post. I didn't know that it would be stuck with that "price drop" part I added.
Also, I found an old file on my computer where I started putting weights of my chemicals next to the chemical names. It's incomplete but these next
chemicals I'll post are some that were on there. I had a few things like sodium nitrite and malonic acid that were in such low quantities that they're
worth practically nothing. Once I go through my entire inventory, I'll pile together everything that's not worth anything and I may just give them
away eventually to someone. ChemGlass - 18-6-2021 at 08:22

New Chemicals in Bold
Probably won't put sold chemicals in bold anymore. Trying to keep the list simple. I'll get the hang of my formatting crisis soon.
Shoot me an direct message or email me at chemglass.sciencemadness@gmail.com. I'll get you a shipping quote through FedEx ground once you email
me. All chemicals will be sealed in HDPE bags and then packed in vermiculite. I'm pretty flexible with some of the prices but I'm trying to keep
prices well below retail. Let me know if you think any should be priced differently.
I'll try to find the original bottles of the ones i've indicated. Should be more in those.

New chemicals and glassware will be added periodically.
I know have some single distilled mercury and some slightly dirty mercury with some oxide powder sitting on top. I'm sure some of you would like to
have some if it was distilled a few times. I'll work on getting weights and prices out for that soon. I may purify it all and then list it. We'll see
what happens.

There are some very
good reasons that we don’t do that.
Just as a warning to those who are going to buy the benzaldehyde, if the container has been opened (Which I think it has been, since there is no
supplier who sells 440.24mL), it's going to have to be redistilled to remove the benzoic acid contamination. Would be nice if the seller could distill
it before shipping.Tsjerk - 19-6-2021 at 11:23
I have a 15 year old 500 ml bottle of benzaldehyde with only very little left. It was opened dozens and dozens of times, when I last put it in a
freezer at -16 nothing precipitated. And the solubility of benzoic acid in benzaldehyde at freezing temperatures is very low.
Edit: although.. For 100 dollar per liter it might better be unopened or triple distilled...

New Chemicals in Bold
Send me a message if you feel like any prices are too high. I'm pretty reasonable with negotiating.
I had some chemicals that were really low quantity and aren't worth anything really. If someone buys maybe $100 worth in chemicals you can have these
four bottles for free that I didn't list: Methanol (151.7mL), DCM (106.15mL), DMSO (43.01mL), and Benzene (30.73mL). They're not worth selling.
The aniline and phenyl hydrazine look a little oxidized from air. I priced them for only $10 since you'd have to purify them. All my glassware is in
storage unfortunately so it would be a lot of work to find all the glassware to do distillations. I changed benzaldehyde from $40 to $20 since I'm not
able to redistill it for anyone. I reduced a few of the prices of some of the other chemicals.

HAD to snatch up that NaBH4 and NaBF4. Arrived as 2 bottles of NaBF4 and some bags of NaBH4. The individual items are each sealed in plastic 2x, then
again padded with 2 layers of bubble wrap. Shipped immediately and arrived fast. I have to say this forum comes through with some great deals. This is
how business should be done.ChemGlass - 28-6-2021 at 08:53
Thank you very much njl for the positive feedback! I really appreciate that!
I also have an updated chemical inventory. Quite a few have been sold but here's some new ones I've measured out. Like I've said before, I'm pretty
flexible with pricing so send me a U2U or email me at chemglass.sciencemadness@gmail.com
I wouldn't mind working out prices that are better for you, especially if you buy multiple. Many of the ones I've just listed are in their original
manufacturers bottles. Lots of Sigma Aldrich and Alfa Aesar. Probably a few more updates and that'll be all of my chemicals.
BTW, chemglass, where did you get all this stuff? You must have had one hell of a home lab if you had all of that ChemGlass - 1-7-2021 at 10:09
I had a really cool home lab setup not too long ago and I'm sad that I don't have the room in the house we just moved in to have it all set up I have bins and bins full to the brim of cool glassware with vermiculite sitting in a
storage unit now that I'll have to wait until another time to use.
The secret to the sauce is having a close connection to someone who owns a chemical manufacturing or distribution company. When I was an undergrad, I
had, and still have, a close friend who runs a small custom fluorochemical manufacturing company. He was able to order extra quantities (in small
amounts) of certain chemicals they already order and I was able to get small quantities of hard to find chemicals for relatively good prices. I mostly
used them but would often sell some to help pay a very small portion of my tuition. He was basically buying chemicals for me and I would pay him. I
think Chemsavers on Ebay does this too, where they'll allow you to buy chemicals from them that they can order for you through their business
relationship with large chemical companies. But that's what I've heard at least. I've never bought anything from Chemsavers cause they're really
expensive.
These chemicals I have are mostly a remainder of chemicals I got from him but some of them I purchased online by myself. I really want to have my home
lab setup again but I don't really have the space to do it and before I set it up again, I want to build a custom fume hood but that's going to have
to wait.
I'll mostly be trying to do a lot of outdoor chemistry in the meantime while I'm at this new house. I'l be working on mercury purification and supply,
so hopefully I get a decent amount of mercury within the next few weeks that I can sell! I should have at least 50 lbs of mercury for sale by the end
of July! So maybe I'll advertise that on here. I wish I had photos of this small home lab I had setup. Maybe when I get the chance to unpack and
organize all my equipment and glassware I can share some photos Triflic Acid - 1-7-2021 at 10:34
Wow, I can only imagine a lab like that. Also, as a side note, getting a good lab space in a house can be a bit tough, but an attic can be a pretty
good place for a lab, as is a basement. I'm know one member has a lab in a spare bathroom. If you ask some members here, they can probably figure out
the best place for a lab in your house.Jenks - 1-7-2021 at 11:11
I've had a lab in both an attic and a basement. I don't know about outdoors but for mercury distillation is sounds very appropriate. I hope there is
enough yard where you can set up a rickety shed with space between all the boards, sort of a fume hood in itself that would allow space for your
chemistry. I once turned my chemicals into the municipal hazardous waste disposal service because I thought I wouldn't have space for chemistry at my
future home. It turns out I did have space, so I am sorry for that decision, and wished I had known I could offer them here instead.Jenks - 6-7-2021 at 09:48
I bought several liquids from the original list that were shipped June 21st. Communication with ChemGlass has been clear, consistent and extensive,
except for some reasonable delays when he gets busy. We expected it to take most of a week for FedEx to truck the box across the US, but tracking
failed early, and later said the box was "damaged", and they didn't deliver it until July 3rd. We thought that maybe one of the liquids had leaked.
But it turned out that the problem was that someone seemed to have opened the box mid-transit, cutting the shipping label and bar code clear in half
before taping it closed. The illegible bar code had to be replaced by FedEx before the box could complete its journey. The seller and I are both at a
loss for why the box was opened.
Otherwise, the box was in perfect condition. Opening it, I found it completely packed with vermiculite, and all the bottles were suspended in the
vermiculite. Each bottle was a quality reagent amber glass bottle, with caps wrapped in plastic tape. Each bottle was heat sealed inside heavy, double
polyethylene bags. Each reagent came in more than one bottle to minimize the total empty space inside the bottles, and all reagents were clearly
labeled and accounted for.
Overall, I was very happy with the transaction and have another purchase pending.ChemGlass - 14-7-2021 at 15:29
I've reduced many of the prices on previously listed chemicals and included some new ones. This should be the rest of my inventory. Occasionally, I'll
find another bottle here and there. Many have sold already. Send me a U2U or email me at chemglass.sciencemadness@gmail.com
Also, I have quite a bit of brand new HDPE laboratory reagent bottles (mostly Nalgene & VWR) that I'll be making a new thread for because of the
quantity to avoid creating a single lengthy thread that I can't change the title of. Volumes range from 100mL/250mL all the way up to 1L/2L/5L. I may
have a couple 10L chemical storage bottles also.
Also, thank you Jenks for the positive feedback! Looking forward to your next couple packages arriving!
You're welcome.
The second, larger order arrived as two boxes, again delivered by FedEx. The boxes arrived in perfect condition and without delay. Because of the
problem with the box being opened mid-transit in the first order, ChemGlass, at my request, taped paper over the seams of the boxes so that they could
not be opened without it being obvious. Also, instead of loose vermiculite, the box contents were wrapped in sheets of heavy plastic, enclosed tightly
with zip ties and cut off with little slack, which would be impossible to re-close once re-opened. This time, however, there was no sign that either
box had been tampered with. Our theory of why the first box was opened is that FedEx opens and inspects packages much more casually than the US postal
service does due to not requiring a warrant. This has led to increasing package theft by FedEx employees. We think that perhaps my box was opened in
search of valuables to steal, and lucky for me that obscure reagents aren't easy to pawn.
All the items I bought were present in their expected amounts, with excellent packaging as before, except for mercury which is to be shipped
separately. I forgot to mention in my previous review that not only was there no breakage or leaks, but in fact there was not even any smell, not even
from the many solvents and liquids. Even the pyridine was completely free of smell, even after removal of the double layer of thick heat-sealed
plastic enclosing the bottle. Given ChemGlass' ambition to sell mercury, I find his diligence and skill at secure shipping reassuring.BackyardScience2000 - 16-7-2021 at 15:48
Hey, how it goes? I'd like to inquire about getting a few things. Could you email me an updated list of what you have for sale? My email is the
same as my online name. backyardscience2000@gmail.com . If you could email me real quick I would greatly appreciate it. I am interested in a few
things on the list that ive seen on here and could possibly even do some trading with some things (hard to find chems and elements) that you could
probably sell far quicker. Thanks. ChemGlass - 16-7-2021 at 20:30
Thank you again for the incredible feedback Jenks I'm looking forward to firing

I received a number of items from chemglass last week, I found his communication, packaging, etc. to be near perfection.
Regarding the items I could quickly test, they are as described. There are a couple of items that I will not have the time to asses for another week.
I have no doubt that they will prove to be as described as well.
Thanks ChemGlass!ChemGlass - 23-7-2021 at 12:44
Hey +ION,
Thank you so much for the positive feedback!! Much appreciated
As for anyone interested in purified mercury, I've been having issues dealing with the welding shop I brought in iron parts to have welded. The retort
was originally put together with threaded fittings. I probably could've used it as is, but I was worried about any leaks and wanted to get it welded.
They advised to get rid of the threaded nipples between all the fittings and directly weld the parts together instead of welding threaded nipples to
their corresponding parts. This was a great idea to me and made sense from a welders aspect. Long story short, they couldn't weld it after a long week
of communicating with them. As of today, I have stainless steel parts on the way to get welded and should have my retort up and running as soon as I
get the parts and they weld them.
For anyone wanting mercury, please give me another week to receive the parts and for the welder to have it pieced together. I'm sure because of all
the delays they'll weld it up much quicker this time. As for my previous and poorly welded retort, I'm trying not to get charged for it since the
welds are all cracked. They'll hold onto it until they get the new stainless parts to weld together and I'm assuming the iron retort they have is
practically useless after all this work lol.
Anyway, that's just a "quick" update on my mercury. I have about 150 lbs that I'm hoping to begin distillation on within a week and then I can begin
shipping out mercury orders. Thanks to everyone who has supported me with buying my chemicals and to any future orders. I've gotten to know some of
you very well and you've all been incredibly helpful and a pleasure getting to know. Thank you all! violet sin - 24-7-2021 at 13:15
I had a great experience with this first time purchase from ChemGlass. My order was packed SUPER well, there was nothing spilled or broken.
Communication was easy and quick, not to mention polite. I will definitely buy in the future if anything offered is needed.
Scooped up the LiBr, phenol and benzyl alcohol. The bottles/jars all had taped lids, double bagged in heat sealed bags, packed in a ton of
vermiculite, triple zip-tied super thick plastic sheet all in an oversized box... Fantastic.
I work at a warehouse doing shipping, so I know first class care when I see it. ^^^
Thank you for an awesome interaction. The only hiccup that transpired was entirely my fault for pressing confirm on payment sent, and then saying I
sent payment. But in reality, I had not completed paying by accident, it needed one more confirmation button of course. I was asked to check my
payment I the most respectful way, and found my self to fault. Again sorry about that.
A small mountain of vermiculite no doubt.

Hey violet sin,
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the glowing feedback! I'm glad you're
happy with the service I try to provide. I like going a little overboard with the packaging so I feel reassured knowing that any leaks and smells are
entirely contained and there's next to no risk of any damage occurring during shipment. I look forward to getting more in stock while continuing to
provide service like you've experienced.
For others interested in chemicals, I've had a few sales since the time I posted my last inventory update. I'll be updating the list to reflect what's
left. Thanks again to all of you who took that leap of faith and purchased some of my chemicals. Even though I don't have an immense inventory yet,
it's been very rewarding supplying what I'm able to so far.ChemGlass - 25-7-2021 at 14:54
Here's an updated list of chemicals. I'm very flexible with pricing, especially when multiple chemicals are ordered.
Just got my chemicals after only 2 days since paying for them! Every product is very clean, and they were packed better than I would expect from
Sigma: surrounded by tons of adsorbent and thoughtfully sealed in their own plastic envelopes so that even if a spill or break somehow occurred, you'd
have no problem cleaning up or recovering the reagent. Very discreet. Nothing but friendliness and good business aptitude from the seller, either.
Would definitely buy again.ChemGlass - 2-8-2021 at 18:21

Thank you for the positive feedback! I greatly appreciate it! enlight - 5-8-2021 at 13:57
