manometer

alive&kickin - 8-10-2020 at 20:54

Greetings all, I've got a piece of glassware, no idea where it came from, that I think is a manometer. One end is sealed and the other has a tee with a stopcock. No oil, alcohol, or mercury is in it, just empty glass. If there's a way that it can be loaded and used, and anybody is interested, let me know. First come first serve.

One problem you may have if you use it, especially with Hg, is that if there is no constriction at the inlet and you release the vacuum suddenly the Hg will rush upwards and smash the end of the tube off and spill all over the place to boot.

yobbo ll, I'm not sure if anyone would use it as that, although it does look like that is what it was used for at one time. I figure if someone could use it, or cut it up into pieces that they can use, they're welcome to it.

yobbo ll, just looked closer and you're right, there is a pinch 10" down from the sealed end, right before the bend.
