Your how-to video was fantastic, I was pretty pissed I only got to watch it once before it got removed....

Great work Wesson! Be safe, it’s a very unique hobby!

Also. Check out energetic heretics videos on YT if you haven’t. Really interesting compounds.

Which video, in particular, do you want back up?

Curious about the NHN. Would it detonate if you put a small amount on a metal plate and gave it a rap with a standard sized hammer? What about moderate grinding? I know this isn't the most scientific test but just curious.

A solid rap with a hammer against a hard surface, yes. Moderate grinding, no.

Here is a paper testing various Hydrazine complexes of transition metals, including NHN.

wesson,

i would not like to hear that you had an accident with the above procedure.
although nhn may not be particularly sensitive to friction , the material underneath it,
is melt cast etn, which is i understand very sensitive to shock.

surely there is a risk of you pounding the wooden rammar (to compress
the nhn) and potentially setting of the melt cast etn.?

stay safe

I appreciate your concern. Melt-cast ETN is less sensitive to shock than powdered ETN it's nearly as insensitive to shock as PETN, 96% of PETN. ETN in the MOLTEN state is VERY sensitive and shouldn't be confused with melt-cast.

If you watch my video, I am not pounding anything. I am pressing down on the material. The reason I am using a waxed paper tube and a soft wooden dowel is to both eliminate friction and shock danger.

When I do use metal tubes, my setup is completely different. Even then, the risk of detonation pressing into a metal tube is very low, BUT because its metal the risk of being blinded by flying shrapnel requires extra special care. I can tell you this if I didn't have NHN I wouldn't be making detonators AT ALL. The amount of special equipment you would need to SAFELY make detonators using anything else wouldn't be worth it for the casual experimenter like me.

All of them were good, but the NHN synthesis video itself was very well done and easy to follow

Neat stuff!

Are your videos on bitchute? A bit of a reduced listing on Youtube for semi-obvious reasons currently....

Taking videos down is the way I stay under the radar, regardless of the platform. Anytime I see a video I like that I know the powers that be wouldn't, I download them:)

What do you think about using Liptakov's CHP instead of NHN?
It looks like a reasonable alternative... pretty insensitive, non-toxic, powerful and safe to manufacture (unlike NHN synthesis which involves hydrazine)...

By the way, i really appreciate what you're doing around here, it's a pity this place is a bit dead (no pun intended).

CHP is an excellent alternative. The main caveat is the need for strong confinement. I am also uncertain as to the shelflife of CHP and any reactivity issues it might have. As for the dangers associated with using Hydrazine Monohydrate, they are absolutely a SERIOUS concern, however, they are also easily addressed by using proper safety gear.

If you are going to synthesis powerful energetics, you are going to be around some VERY dangerous chemicals. So safety is paramount. I like NHN because I can use paper detonators which eliminate any shrapnel concern.

Thanks for the encouragement, you are correct, this board has died off.

What ever happened to Liptakov?

The last time he posted was in Sept. He must be busy with real-world stuff:) He is/was one of the few posters on this forum that I have a lot of respect for.

MineMan - 9-3-2020 at 01:56

Ahhh. LL, truly one of my favorite posters. And PHILOU of course too! I wish both of those the best happiest life... they deserve super models.
