Every time I try to make HAuCl4.3H2O I get the red crystalline (red garnet looking) AuCl3. After all the Au is dissolved, I heat the AR solution in a
sand bath at 225°C to evaporate it. The temperature must be too high and it converts to the red AuCl3 instead. Although I've tried evaporating at
100°C and it still turns to blood red AuCl3.
Any suggestions on how to get perfect and dry HAuCl4.3H2O crystals quickly?

Place in a sealed bag of NaOH.

How long does it take to dry up with NaOH in a sealed bag?
