how do these 2 chemicals react?

ok i hypothetically have Sodium nitrite (NaNO2) and Diethyl sulfate (C4H10SO4) and i want to make Nitroethane (C2H5NO2)

am i correct that 2 molecules of NaNO2 react with 1 molecule of C4H10SO4 to make 2 molecules of C2H5NO2?

If you have to ask...


You shouldn't be using with diethyl sulfate, it's quite carcinogenic (believe me :-/ ). Nitroethane is also pretty flammable (like nitromethane).

My advice (after reading your other thread):

Find another line of work, preferably one that has no chemistry involved in it. Also, it might be beneficial to consider for a moment just what you may be getting yourself into...

thanx for pointing this hazard out, but this is just an example for educational purposes cause the recipe has all the numbers. i noticed this was a dangerous chemical so i'll use a different method with Sodium ethyl sulfate and Sodium nitrite. i also will be wearing a labcoat and protective glasses for the Nitroethane...what do you think about this model? labcoat ;)

Sodium ethyl sulfate and sodium nitrite can be distilled to give off nitro ethane, but you will also have an ethyl nitrite byproduct. You might want to use excess sodium ethyl sulfate to dilute the nitrite, otherwise you run the danger of exothermic oxidation/ explosion.

id be using a hazmat suit before i would mix these chemicals. im just trying to learn how it works (im not actually gonna brew this recipe)

don't do it yet. You will either kill or seriously injure yourself and yield will be too low anyway. Either order the nitroethane (very dangerous, not recommended!) go after phenethylamines (needs nitromethane which is available OTC) or try one of the "essential amphetamines". But stay clear of PM(M)A, these just suck.

BUW HA HA HAR, yar be correct. And yar can be google bashin' as yar say by makin' use o' the "trick" and knockin' out results with a -"trick". Thar be pages dedicated tar 'hacking' google searches to mine publicly available datar that often simply be not visible on the HTML front. For instance, yar be able to use it to download a lot o' free mp3's by enterin' search criteria that show up FTP file lists for those thar formats, sizes and names.

Actually amphetamine, the common form in Europe, not methamphetamine. I doubt anyone would go to the length of N-methylating the resulting amphetamine.

I doubt the OP cares a lot about the DEA since he claims to be from the Netherlands. In any case, I would never order nitroethane with my real name. Especially not in the Netherlands with their domestic MDMA production.

You've never heard of using Nitroethane to produce Phenyl-2-Propanone, the classic Methamphetamine precursor?

In the era before the development of the P/I2 reduction of Ephedrine......Nitroethane was used to produce P2P. When severe restrictions were placed on Nitroethane, Benzaldehyde, and Methylamine...............Methamphetamine supply plummeted, and there was limited availability for many years.

At any rate "lol", when a new poster shows up, and starts innocently inquiring about Nitroethane.........The folks hereabouts laugh and roll their eyes.

Actually no, I didn't realize that this used to be a common way of P2P manufacture. I hope you excuse my outside-of-US-centrism, but actually I don't care a lot how illicit drug production works in the US. I was under the impression that P2P was mostly made via phenylacetic acid. Of course I heard about the Nef reaction, but it always seemed extremely rude to me. It would break my heart to remove the nitrogen already in the right position. The more I think about it - what a waste of perfectly fine nitroethane. Plain old trivial P2P, what a joke. :(
