Iknow you have to pay for excessive photo use as far as I am aware but would it be possible to setup an area of the forum for threads only opened with pictures. Or at the very lest allow a search engine function to detect such threads. They are the most interesting byfar because its kind of like porn for a nerd....even if its not that great you still wanna see.

You can find posts with pictures by searching for img. This will detect both the HTML and the BBCode img tags. Unfortunately the forum's built-in search function does not order results by date so it still is not a convenient way to find recent posts with pictures.

Thanks Poleverone I never considered searching for the tag since they visually dissapear. Im sure there still indexed though even if we don't see them so ill give it a shot.

The search function seems to order not by date but by most recent activity is this correct?

[edit]

Doing the IMG search and restricting the section to say, organic chemistry or the likes leads to much more interesting reads then the same old humdrum of endless text, thanks for the advice. I was always a fan of books with alot of pictures anyway it breaks up the monotny while reading and retains interest better then plain text.:D

I suffer from the the thought — that a section for chem related
graphics devoid of a specific subject (text) would be useful... if not
bandwidth sucking. AKA clip art.

Who said anything like this? I said those opened with pictures IE threads where the person showed that they performed the experiment and provided detailed pictures instead of endless text much of which is just copy paste jobs from other places. I like the idea of seeing pictures along with a writeup instead of just a bunch of text that blurs my fucked up eyes.

Ooooo boo-hooo-hooo. I have broken another secret rule

I just tag
- photos
or
- photo essay
onto the title.

But that doesn't work if my post is within someone else's.

I realize it can be a real pain in the ass taking photos. I take tens or hundreds to account for the blurry / poor colour etc failures, then sift through them and pick the best, then have to upload, paste them into posts... it gets quite time consuming.

But it does make the forum far, far more exciting to look at. As they say, a picture says a thousand words. And it is nerd porn, I love looking at what some other nerd has, what their setup looks like or how they're doing something. I pick up a few useful little tips they might forget to mention that way, like what they're using to wrap something in, or how they hold something in place.

It would be nice if there was someway I could tick a box on posting to say "photo essay", "equipment", "setup", "nerd porn" and then have the post be dumped to a specific photo forum with a link back to the original article. That way people could easily find some graphical porn to view with their beer.
