^ Really not understanding how the two images show the same thing. In the first one, does the CHCH represent CH2? HOW?!

Can someone draw the structural formula of this please so I can understand it better.

Any other links online that I can further practice with structural and display formula so then I can progress onto nomenclature.

The images do not show the same thing. The first shows 3-methyl-4-ethylheptane, detailing the 7 membered chain from which the compound gets the root "hept-" The second just shows n-Heptane for comparison I guess.

You could start out by reading the wikipedia article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organic_nomenclature

then there's this page for helping students:

http://schools-wikipedia.org/wp/i/International_Union_of_Pur...

then you could read Dr Reusch's page:

http://www.cem.msu.edu/~reusch/VirtualText/nomen1.htm

which includes some instructive examples :D

Then there's this web site which is quite educational:

http://www.chemguide.co.uk/basicorg/conventions/names.html

Then there's the attached file which contains a series of articles by Dr Claff on chemical nomenclature
