ethylamine

I was wondering If ethylamine could be prepared by condensing ammonium chloride with ethanol similar to the preparation of methylamine

It's possible I suppose. All the proceedures I've seen involve ammonia solution or bubbling ammonia gas into ethanol.

There's only one way to find out, I am assuming you searched very well. Try it out.

If it wont work look here: https://www.the-hive.ws/forum/showflat.pl?Cat=&Number=39...

That is a synthesis of Diethylamine, but Ethylamine is an isolated intermediate. Method two is probably the easier of the two.

??
I have seen syntheses of methylamine involving things like formaldehyde or hexamine. I've never seen a synthesis just using methanol and ammonium chloride. This would be news to me.
