Using the proper flask

I'm looking to follow the procedure for a reaction which requires magnetic stirring of a solution without heating in a 5L reaction flask. My question is this: If the reaction flask does not need to be sealed nor heated, is there any reason I would have to use a RBF/FBF instead of say an erlenmeyer?

I can't see why, unless a reagent is being introduced and must be introduced slowly, or if stirring rate determines temp, etc. Barring anything unusual I think an Erlenmeyer or even a plain old beaker would work. However, it would help if you would post the procedure you're referring to.
