I've searched high and low for a synthesis of 2,4,6-trimethyl-1,3,5-trioxane that includes a description regarding the product's purity,
but somehow it's all either just to illustrate the reaction or in industrial scale, not part of a larger laboratory synthesis.
Could anyone kindly point me in the right direction?

Please explain exactly what do you want? I really do not know what kind of a reference to provide you.
You say you already found the synthesis procedure, yet you show no example or reference, neither don't you explain what is wrong with what you found.
What does "description regarding the product's purity" mean. Do you need the mp/bp of the product or spectral data? Or GC purity estimation or what?

Well basically what I found where demonstration/school-type write-ups in the form of as much acetaldehyde as is necessary to cover the bottom of the
flask, a few drops of sulfuric acid, cool with ice, wait a few minutes, pour into water and see the paraldehyde seperate as oily drops.
Meaning not more than a basic idea.
What I'm looking for is something like this (random OrgSynth synthesis).
€: And what I found itself cited no references, so, yeah, I've got nothing.

@Nicodem: if you have a synthesis for this compound I would also like to have it; it's an ingredient in an indicator I pay way to much for.

There is one in Cumming from way back, from acetaldehyde.
There is a good JACS article from acetylene, but this is 1921 so you probably wouldn't believe either one and they don't make any purity claims
anyways so oh well.

in Cumming? That's a little too much short hand for me. What is Cumming? "Systematic Organic Chemistry" -text book?

The JACS acetylene method is also in Cumming but since the original literature is already in English, that's the best place to look. I'll post it in
case someone might be interested in it at some time, I don't think that the 1921 JACS is on Google books right now.

The one in Cumming seems good, though I wonder how much metaldehyde there's still in there after the distillation.
Not much, I'd guess, but still. At least the general procedure seems reasonable.
