I'm not sure if these would be of any use but have just found them on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JEWELLERY-MAKING-SOLID-PLATINUM-WIRE-0...
(Item number: 190234553545)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/99-5-PLATINUM-WIRE-for-Probe-Tip-Elect...
(Item is USA and item number: 140261113642)
Hope they are of use!

Contact the seller uGems on eBay. Even if this seller does not have any platinum in an auction, you can ask for it. I have pure 0.3 mm wire from him
and also a 95/5 Pt/Ir allay. Cost is appr. $6 per inch. Thicker wire is available as well, but of course at higher cost.
I strongly recomment the Pt/Ir alloy. It is somewhat cheaper than pure Pt, but the main reason to use this, is that it is easier to bend (not as
brittle as pure Pt and yes, I have personal experience with that!) and some persons say that it also is somewhat more corrosion-resistant.
