help me my exam is on sunday
1-how to convert glycerol to n propanol?
2-how to differentiate between alkanes and alkyl halides?
3-explain why a good yeild of a mixed ether can be obtained from a mixture of CH2=CH-CH2-OH and n propanol?
4-account for the following observations
(CH3)3-C-O-CH3
when anhydrous HI is added ------>CH3I + (CH3)3-C-OH
when aq. HI is added -------> CH3-OH + (CH3)3-CI
5)account for the order of decreasing basicity
6)whats the action of :
conc H2SO4
chlorine
on acetaldehyde and acetone
7)how to convert acetone to diethyl ketone?
8) how to convert propanal to acetaldehyde?
thats for now, hope you dont fail me

Show the work you've put in to trying to answer these questions, and explain where you got stuck. Nobody's going to just provide answers to a list of
problems from your school work.

1) if i add HI to glycerol it will give 2 iodo propane then stuck
2)using Zn/HCl will work?
3)the 2 alchols will give an ether but i dont think thats the good yield the answer must be related to the double bond
4)thats cleavage by acid and it occurs at the side of the loner chain but i dont know why it is reversed in the aq case
5) factors that affect basicity
chain length
presence of branches on the chain
but i dont know how that applies to the question
6)H2SO4 removes water but i dont know on which site on the molcule
i know the products of PCl5 and HCl but Cl alone i have no idea
7) diethyl ketone comes from a 5C alchol or a 5C alkyl halide with 2 halogen atoms on the central C
but i dont know how to get that from a 3C compund
8)i dont know how to remove the excess C
methods of removing a C:
-iodoform test--->acid salt
-Br2/KOH on amide--->amine
-acid + NaOH/CaO --->alkane and i dont know how to convert alkane to aldehyde
-tertiary alcohol + HNO3----> ketone
