Micro heating element?
I am looking for a tiny heating element that can reach 1000°+, something on the order of 2-3mm wide and 5mm long. I want to put it the closed end of
a quartz tube to create a “hot finger” for growing metal crystals by vapor deposition. Anyone aware of such a thing, either off the shelf or
easily home made?
Thanks

The elements used and sold for 'vaping' may do the job.
They are a short coil of Kanthal wire

Buy a spool of Nichrome/Kanthal wire, you can make your own heating elements in any shape or size you want, and they can run at any temperature up to
about 1400°C. The size you want won't draw much current at all, you can get away with a really simple controller (Think; Potentiometer and power
supply).

Thanks. I'm surrounded by DIY vapers, so this will be easier than I thought.

Maybe a cigarette lighter from an old car? They have a perfectly shaped small circular coil of wire that can get up to red heat at least.

They sell little SiC heaters on eBay. SiC is continuously good for around 1500C.

Or as suggested, induction (perhaps with a graphite inductor in your quartz tube):

PS. The induction heater with graphite would be good to around 3000C, provided of course the tube is kept cool and filled with argon (not just any
inert atmosphere) or a vacuum.
