"What can I do with this?" Search Engine

It'd be cool if there was a search engine where you could type in the name of a compound and just see a list of things you could make with it. Until I saw the "Org. Chemistry Index of Amateur Synthesis" in Forum Matters, I had absolutely no idea that you could make an aromatic compound from just sulfuric acid and acetone! I'd love if I could figure out more ideas for synthesis with what I have.

I think that "List" would take up most of the internet.
we only have 118 elements to mess with so I would have thought we would have run out of things to make a long time ago.

Anybody want a peanut butter sandwich?

They tried to have me "put to sleep" so I came back to return the favor.
Zom.

Just had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

I think such a search engine might be useful.
More specifically, I think some kind of experimental database might be useful.
I suspect most of the links are going to be either to here or erowid.
Probably lots of patents and commercial synthesis as well but
there is a lot of knowledge in science madness.

I'd second DFliyerz comment: check Nicodem's thread:
https://www.sciencemadness.org/whisper/viewthread.php?tid=27...

When I started absorbing chemistry eons ago I had a small excersize book in which I copied the more intriguing reactions from the books I came across. And the possibility to make an aromatic compound from acetone and H2SO4 catched my interest too. :-) I do remember that particular reaction was also listed in that excersize book.

May be I'm finally going blind but I can't see such a reaction in that thread?

Erm, it isn't JUST acetone and H2SO4 in that prep.
