Iproniazid analog?

Iproniazid (isonicotinic acid isopropyl hydrazide), the first MAO inhibitor, uses 4-pyridinecarboxylic acid (isonicotinic acid). Could the 3-substituted acid (nicotinic acid) be used instead and possibly still retain activitywithout becoming more hepatotoxic (iproniazid is bad enough), or possibly less toxic?
