PC power supply
I know that power supplies don't give power if turned on, until the computer switch is used as well. Now I have found an old computer, took out
the power supply and shorted the green wire with the black one (which I read on this forum would do the same thing as pressing the button on the
computer). The supply doesn't work.
Is it possible there are other colors for this purpose and I need to short everything not yellow or red? Anyway, the computer was in the waste so it could well be it was thrown because the power supply is broken but
I'd like to check.

If it's an ATX power supply, you will need a dummy load (~1A or so) on one of the 5V outputs.
