Lutein tablets
Bit unusual but I would like your opinion on something. I recently purchased some Lutein tablets online but what perplexes me is that they are snow
white, not just a white coating but white all the way through. I have my suspicions, how can a tablet which supposedly contains 50mg of lutein be pure
white when lutein itself is brilliant orange/yellow in colour.
just want your opinion because I have heard loads of story's of tablets/supplements sold online which have been found to not contain what they are
supposed to contain
Ingredients: Lutein 50mg, Magnesium Stearate.

Maybe its 50mg in total, not per tablet Lutein is very strongly coloured, so
50mg in one tablet should not be white!

It clearly says Lutein 50mg on the front and on the back it says Lutein 50mg, (comer) Magnesium Stearate.
I dont know how a tablet containing Lutein could possibly be pure white, even if it contained 1mg it should be off white.

And I know of no "modification" of lutein that can remove that strong chromophore is a reversible manner to make it bio-available.

Yes agreed, have you appealed to the seller? A cursory search of lutein tablets in google image certainly show many coloured tablets.
I'd be if it were me!

Yep I contacted the manufacturer, so far no reply...I'm almost 100% sure these contain zero Lutein, and yes I am because I purchased two large bottles of this crap!

Buying tablets of whatever drug/medicine from the internet is riskful and sometimes even dangerous. Many of these things are fake and just a rip off.
Probably you just have tablets made from starch, sugar or whatever plain compound.

If you would like to try growing and isolating lutein yourself, as unionised suggested, here is a paper which talks about extracting it from
marigolds, and got a yield of 105.19g of lutein to every Kg of dried flower!
