Freezer Pump
Hi,
I have removed a freezer pump and have been using it as a vacuum pump.
It pulls an awesome vacuum of about 100 torr on the filtration setup I have.
I am concerned about the pump though, it makes a small popping sound when its pulling down which is fine because of the air its pulling through but it
will still do it a lower pressures.
Does anyone know what exactly is happening in it and should I be concerned?
Cheers, Houngan

Totally normal. I am playing with one of my fridge compressors right now, and have noticed that sound alot, not sure what it is, but it doesn't break
anything when it happens.

Might be the oil becoming unhappy, or a slight air leak if it's multi-stage.
Try replacing the oil with better oil, rated for higher vacuum.
