Nitrous oxide and transferrin saturation levels
I'm a regular blood donor, and my values range from 15.5-18 g/dL hemoglobin and my transferrin saturation levels around 50-55%. And these have been
stable for the last 3 years, but last week my TSAT levels had gone from 55% to 18%, where 15% is considered anemic, the doctor found this sudden drop
very shocking, but we never discussed it, he just gave me iron supplements to take over 3 months.
As indicated in the subject, the only difference I can point to between this donation and the other ones is that I tried nitrous oxide gas for
recreational purposes a few times - 8 times - 8 grams each - over a period of 3 months prior.
Do anybody know if there's a connection between N2O and lower saturation levels? Similar to what happens to Vitamin B12 for example? Anybody know
other possible causes?

There might be a connection, but stop the N2O anyways, it can damage your brain irreversibly, AFAIK.
